It’s been a long winter. I am anxiously awaiting spring. I usually quit knitting about the first of March when winter is about over… however, I decided to tackle one more project this year while I am waiting on spring. While browsing at the bookstore I found pattern designer Rebecca Danger’s 50 Yards of Fun. This book is adorable! Rebecca is funny too! This is a pattern book of knitted toys. You will find patterns for bees, bunnies, foxes, monsters, robots, and raccoons. Don’t let the magic loop method scare you. I had never heard of it and I had it figured out in five minutes. Here is a link to help you get started: http://www.knittinghelp.com/video/play/magic-loop
To make the simplest patterns in the book it would be helpful if you already know how to knit in the round. These are the things you need to know … (the list is short) : Cast on. Joining in the round. Knit stitch. Increase (or k 1 f &b). Decrease (or k2tog). I-cord. I did not follow Rebecca’s patterns for the arms and legs; I just made I-cords on double pointed needles. I did knit them right into the piece as Rebecca suggests.
Have fun! What have you been knitting this cold spring?
